First Twitter Message from Space

WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.com – For the first time, Twitter messages sent directly from outer space. This is accomplished thanks to new services provided to the NASA astronauts who were on duty at the International Space Station or the International Space Station (ISS).

The message was sent by astronaut Timothy Creamer named using the name @ Astro_TJ on Twitter service. TJ is currently serving on the ISS since December 20, 2009 and will spend time in space for six months.
The message was sent TJ from personal web access service called LAN Support Crew, Friday (22/1/2010). This service can only be used when the line high-speed satellite communications via Ku-band between the space station and ground control center in the middle connected. childVIVAnews – Many Indonesian children have yet to receive their basic rights such as sufficient nutrition and education. In addition, there is a wide gap in well-being separating the children living in java and those outside Java.

“20 percent of children in Indonesia do not gain access to clean water while 40 percent others do not have chance to study in elementary school,” Angela Kearney, UNICEF chief of representative to Indonesia, said today, Nov 20, at a book launching in Jakarta which was held by the Delegation of European Commission in Jakarta and UNICEF.

Kearney further mentioned that one fourth of Indonesian children under five years of age are suffering from malnutrition and lacking breast milk.

In addition, one third of Indonesia babies are not given birth under the assistance of professional midwife. In fact, 18 percent of Indonesian women die during their pregnancy or delivery.

She explained that there are different conditions experienced by children in various regions. “25 percent children in Papua received immunization. On the other hand, 95 percent of children in Yogyakarta took in immunization,” said Kearney.

Given the challenges, UNICEF are ready to maintain the cooperation with the Indonesian government and indigenous people in an effort to allow children win respect from the people.
